I’m on the SkyBus to the airport. Sitting on floor with my back against someones suitcase. Why am I doing this? My Mum is about to go under the knife, she has a 7cm aneurysm sticking out of her heart that has plans to end her.
Of course the surgery comes with a warning too. Years of smoking have left her with lungs 20 years older than the rest of her body. This could cause complications.
So I’m hunkered down on the floor of a SkyBus heading back to Sydney.

Must Have Apps for your Android Phone

So a week ago I picked up the HTC Dream. A nice little device that is powered by Google’s Android mobile OS.

So after a week of installing and uninstalling, using and not using applications from the “Market”, I thought I’d put together my list of “Must-have-apps”.

DroidSans Tweak Tools Lite

Battery life. If you want your battery to last the day (and I mean the 8-9 hours you spend at work) you will need this app.

Key Features
- Enable Windows Animation : Windows Fading when you open any application
- Enable Transition Animation : Transition effect happen when you change the view
- Enable/Disable GPRS/EDGE connection with one click

ChompSMS
ChompSMS.com

It is a fairly stock SMS app but the soft keyboard is the best. Though it would be cool if it had the phone keypad for fast texting action.

You will also nee to keep track of your data and call usage. God knows the Optus site isn’t going to help you.

I tried 3 different home screen replacements and aHome was by far the best. It’s stable and gives you up to 10 screens to hold apps. Plus a nice little dock with your four favourite apps at your finger tips.

My Masters Experience

I’m in my second week of my Masters in Computer Science (Internet and Web Computing) at RMIT and I’v settled down into the two subjects I’ll be doing this semester.

Java for Programmers and Web Programming.

I’m not really enjoying the Web Programming yet, it is still a little too basic for me.

Java is looking like it will realy challenge me.
